Come with Me to California!
You can pack your bags if you want to, but you don’t have to leave your home or office to join me for a jaunt to the Golden State! Come with me to California—an all-expense paid adventure from San Diego to San Francisco with lots of stops in between!
I’m headed for the Golden State next week and will be there for two weeks. It’s the west coast tour for Tracks.
Each day, I plan to share an exciting destination on Facebook! Join me daily at www.facebook.com/edgewriter.
The adventure begins in Los Angeles, then dips down to San Diego. While there, depending on timing, we may cross the border into Mexico. Then back up to Hollywood and Santa Monica before heading to San Simeon for a tour of the Hearst Castle. San Francisco comes next, and then a day or two in Steinbeck Country: Monterey, Salinas, and San Jose. Finally, a couple days in Santa Barbara before heading back to LA.
Here are my flagship book events during my two weeks in California:
June 29, 2012 - Montecito, CA: Tracks at Tecolote, 5-6 p.m. at Tecolote Book Shop, 1470 E. Valley Rd, Montecito, CA
June 28, 2012 - Santa Barbara, CA: Tracks Party at Cominichi’s, 6-9 p.m. at Cominichi’s, 410 E. Haley Street, Santa Barbara, CA
June 26, 2012 - San Francisco, CA: Tracks @ Inside Story Time in The Makeout Room, 7-9 p.m. at The Makeout Room, 3225 22nd Street, San Francisco, CA
June 22, 2012 - Los Angeles, CA: Tracks @ Santa Monica Pier, 5 p.m. at the end of Rt. 66, Santa Monica Pier, Los Angeles, CA

Your Morning Papers
Have you been reading your morning papers?
Since winning the Gold Medal for Best Fiction in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Tracks has been getting some traction.
Last week, a feature appeared in the online version of The Baltimore Sun.

Then an altered version of that same story (along with a large picture) took up a full page in the Towson Times.

The biggest surprise was when the Baltimore Sun’s Sunday Edition came out this past week. I made the cover of the Arts & Entertainment section! A color photo and teaser on page one, full story on page three.
Finally, the Baltimore Sun’s Read Street book blog wrote about it just this week.

Where will it end up next? Keep reading your morning papers!

Gold Medal in the Baltimore Sun and Towson Times
The 2012 Independent Publisher Book Awards Gala took place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at The Providence in New York City this past Monday, June 4. I was there with my publisher and literary agent to receive my Gold Medal for Best Fiction in the Mid-Atlantic Region for Tracks: A Novel in Stories.
While I was taking a bite of the Big Apple, my print-self was in Baltimore. After a chat with reporter and fellow author Bob Allen, I was featured in The Baltimore Sun and the Towson Times. The article: “Rodgers Forge resident makes ‘Tracks’ with literary prize for first novel.”
Allen writes, “Someone once described the ambition of getting a novel published as ‘a slender keyhole through which few have passed.’
“Rodgers Forge resident Eric Goodman has passed through that keyhole, and has found rewards on the other side …”
"It has been a long road, but it was never work for me.”

Finally, here is a glimpse of getting the gold. The model did not come with the medal.
