The 2011 Maryland Writers’ Association Short Works Contest
Deadline: February 6, 2011
The goal of this contest is to encourage and recognize outstanding writing in short fiction, short non-fiction and poetry. The contest is open to original, unpublished fiction and non-fiction of less than 3,000 words, or poetry of less than 50 lines, written in English.
Judges: Fiction- Lalita Naronha, Jen Michalski, Eric D. Goodman; Nonfiction: Tom Horton, Marita Golden, Lauren Davis; Poetry: Barbara Morrison, Cliff Lynn, Shirley Brewer, and Doug Mowbray
Fees: $10 for MWA members; $15 for non-members
Prizes: First in each category: $150 and free attendance at the MWA Annual Writers Conference in April 2011;
Second: $100;
Third: $75.
Each winner and one guest are invited to a Writing Awards celebration in conjunction with the April 2011 Maryland Writers Conference.
